Proposal Abstract:

E-Business Opportunities Amongst Slovenian vs. Croation Travel Agencies: A Five Year Comparison

The Internet is an increasingly popular communication tool and marketing tool. This paper attempts to show how Slovenian travel agencies use or can use the Internet as a marketing tool. The purpose of the study was to examine the application of information technology within travel agencies in Slovenia and Croatia, its current status, its perceived opportunities for future use and related benefits and barriers. Our survey encompasses  Slovenian and Croation travel agencies that use the Internet as a marketing tool. The paper suggests ways for using the Internet as a marketing tool. In particular, it highlights the high importance of electronic commerce for Slovenian travel agencies in last five years; future plans for taking advantages of electronic commerce, opportunities seen in access to competitive market. The limits seem to stem from privacy concerns and customer insufficient trust in electronic transactions.
