 Proposal Abstract:

Using Semantic Web Technologies for Accessing Semi-structured Information

The search for the right information and its interpretation in an already existing and heterogeneous knowledge base is time consuming. To handle this problem an ontology can be useful. The idea of the proposal is to split the ontology process into two parts: (i) the human agents select basic categories from the ontology for the new information input and (ii) the system selects further categories based on the description of the new input. In addition, the ontology shall increase while the system filters, categorises and relates the categories by means of the description. The motivation is that categories in this area will extend rapidly. In this context it is not practicable to let human agents change the ontology, because of different interpretations and meanings of words.
