Abstract:

Communication Technologies in the Performance of Hospitality
Organizations: A Research Undertaken in Five Star Hotels
This is a
research proposal based on an ongoing PhD dissertation study. The
aim of the study is to find out the direction and the level of
relationships exist between Information and Communication
Technologies (ICT) and organizational performance outcomes in
hospitality organizations. The main research question of the study
is, “is there any relationship between ICT and the performance of
hospitality organizations?”, and the main hypotheses of the study
is, “Ha: There exists a relationship between ICT and the
performance of hospitality organizations”. Since there exists
multiple and independent inputs and outputs and various latent
variables in determining the effectiveness of the ICT in hospitality
firms, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) has been chosen for data
analysis. Afterwards, a benchmarking proposed to be done among the
sample hospitality firms to determine the effectiveness level of ICT
utilization by using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method. The
research started on September 2004 and supposed to be submitted to
the Institute on June 2007. For the time being it is at the data
